A word about the ownership of Valley City Plating... |

On May 1, 2002 Jeff and Jon acquired the company from their parents (Bob and Carol) with the agreement that if the business is successful that they would fully repay their parents the agreed value for the business. Their father (Bob) started with Valley City Plating in May of 1977 as the Executive Vice President and later purchased the company on May 1, 1988. Jeff and Jon are fulfilling the agreement they made with their parents in the spring of 2002. Jeff and Jon are the complete and sole owners, and Board members of Valley City Plating. In June of 2005 Jeff and Jon formed a holding company to purchase the building that they had been renting from a non-family member.
Jeff started with the company on November 21, 1994 after honorably serving 8 years in the United States Air force. Jeff began in the tool room as a machine operator, welder, and fabricator and quickly started to learn the rest of the plant operation including polishing and plating (hands on). After spending 2 years on the shop floor Jeff moved into the Sales Manager position, and today Jeff still spends many hours on the shop floor working with the associates to insure the highest level of; Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Moral.
Jon started with the company in 1986 (while in high school) doing janitorial work. After receiving a BA in Management, Jon went on to work in retail management for 5 years and then to the Insurance Industry for 5 years (both with large Multi-Billion dollar companies). On May 4, 1998 Jon returned to Valley City Plating as the plant manager. Growing up in the business and leaving for 10 years Jon feels was the best thing any son or daughter of a business owner can do, it gives you a better understanding and appreciation for the business and business world.
Jeff and Jon truly understand the value of good partnerships with: associates, suppliers, customers, and neighbors. Everyone working at Valley City Plating fully understands the value of good partnerships which goes to explain why Jeff and Jon eliminated all “piece work” so they could build partnerships through quality first. Jeff and Jon are very proud to continue their father's tradition of sharing in the financial success of the company which amounted to more than $4.00 per hour in bonuses to non-corporate officers during the 2006/2007 fiscal year.
